The guys we are helping must understand this is probably the only chance they will get to live a normal life. One where, for the first time, they can feel proud, earn honest money, provide for their families, and be a good role model for their children..
We have seen these men can work hard in a prison setting. They are used to getting up early and working long shifts six days a week in an industrial kitchen, yet they have enjoyed being a part of that.
Our support helps them continue to work with this same positive attitude and commitment for businesses in the outside world. We do this by maintaining the same support worker throughout their sentence and for 12 months after release.
Bringing offenders to justice is pointless if these same criminals go on to offend again. Currently 64% re-offend within two years of release. Acting to address this issue is important because the £3 billion cost of keeping the nation’s prison population every year is dwarfed by the estimated £18 billion annual cost of re-offending.
